What happens to a child when the signs of dyslexia go unnoticed?
Sometimes a child withdraws from life and their world
becomes a very sad and lonely place.
"Kids in third grade already were emotionally devastated. I'd ask them to read out loud...and saw fear in their eyes. By nine years of age, they'd already failed. How do we stop this before it starts!"

Sadly, sometimes these struggling children feel that they're dumb or stupid, which is unfortunate, because most are very smart! It's just that they struggle for so long without the right kind of help that they feel anxious, slightly depressed or as Dr. Lyon says, "emotionally devastated." Getting to this point is bad enough, but the actions associated with this feelings can be very bad.
So many children "slip through the cracks" when the right curricula and properly trained, experienced teachers with a knowledge of dyslexia, aren't in place at the start of the child's academic career. Too many times these children get grade levels behind!
Many of the students I've tutored, either got off to a slow start, or were functioning a couple of grade levels below their current grade. With comprehensive one-on-one tutoring, two to three days a week, these children caught up and did extremely well. See the Testimonials page...
